SOHU.com and Nokia Jointly Offer Mobile Internet Content over WAP Platform

Beijing, April 21, 2000 - Romeo gets a message from Juliet through the SOHU.com WAP website on his NOKIA 7110 Mobile phone. The classic Shakespeare tragedy gets a happy ending after all.

Using a modern opera-style adaptation of the final act in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, SOHU.com and NOKIA show for the first time to the Chinese public the practical use of mobile Internet. The performance is followed by a televised demonstration of how to receive and use content from the Sohu.com WAP Service via the NOKIA 7110 WAP mobile phone.

At present SOHU.com and NOKIA lead the way in the development of the mobile Internet in China. The two companies formed a strategic alliance on March 1, 2000, to develop the application of innovative wireless Internet services in China. While NOKIA provided the WAP platform, SOHU.com developed the content for this new technology.

From now on, Chinese mobile phone users can access content from the SOHU.com WAP website (http://wap.sohu.com), including free e-mail services, news, real time stock quotes and other financial information as well as entertainment, traffic, travel, sports and market information. By the end of May new services will be added, including messager, company and telephone search, a personal calendar and an address book.

"Thanks to the close cooperation of the SOHU and NOKIA engineers, who put a lot of work into this, SOHU.com WAP service finally went on live over the NOKIA platform. At this demonstration the Chinese public can see for the first time how attractive the use of mobile Internet is. We believe the strategic partnership with NOKIA will introduce a new way of life to the Chinese consumer", said Charles Zhang, president and CEO of SOHU.com.

Commenting on the successful launch of mobile Internet in China, Mr. James Lin, president of NOKIA (China) Investment Co. Ltd., said: "We're pleased to see that after signing the agreement with SOHU.com it took less than two months to put the Internet into Chinese people's pockets. It underscores how successful we are in teaming up worldwide with many well known Internet content and service providers to give mobile internet users the best, most convenient and safest WAP service."
