SOHU.com Beefs Up Public Relations and Management Team

Beijing, April 24, 2000 - SOHU.com, China's premier Internet portal, has expanded its public relations management team to manage the company's growing international profile. The management has appointed Caroline Straathof as Corporate Relations Manager. Ms. Straathof will also be responsible for investor relations after SOHU.com's listing on the NASDAQ exchange, which it has filed for in February.

Ms. Straathof has extensive media experience with a journalism career spanning 13 years. Starting in 1987 she was Beijing bureau chief of the Netherlands' leading daily de Volkskrant and chief correspondent for the Dutch national news broadcast of NOS. Ms. Straathof obtained a Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy, and a Graduate Diploma in American Studies from Smith college (Northampton, MA).

The addition of Ms. Straathof to the management team is the latest in a flurry of recent appointments in the quickly expanding Internet portal.

In early April Bryan Wu joined the Human Resources Department as senior manager. Mr. Wu has six years' working experience in human resources with Motorola (China) and Beijing Novartis Pharma. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Beijing University.

In March Alan Li was named the company's Chief Operation Officer (COO). Before joining SOHU.com, Mr. Li was Executive Director of Oracle China Ltd. His distinguished career further includes senior management positions in Digital Equipment Corporation and IBM Hong Kong. Mr. Li received a Master of Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Hong Kong.

Also in March, Stanley Cha and Sam Qian signed on to each head SOHU.com's Internet channels. Stanley Cha became the Director of the Learning and Career channels as well as acting Corporate Counsel. He worked for five years as corporate associate in two New York law firms. Mr. Cha obtained a Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law, New York, a Master of Science degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science from Tsinghua University.

Sam Qian joined SOHU.com as the Director of the Business, Real Estate and Dow Jones channels. For three years he worked in Barclays Capital's Risk Finance Group in New York. Before that he worked in the Strategic Trading Division of Chase Manhattan Bank. Mr. Qian holds a Ph.D. in Astro-physics from Colombia University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Science and Technology of China.
