SOHU.com achieves greater branding power and stronger product-line after acquisition

Balanced product mix of search/content and community

Beijing, December 15, 2000 - Combining the recognized strength of SOHU.com's search engine and news content with the strong community features of youth community web site ChinaRen.com has made the combined company more versatile across the board in its portal services. The 'Search fox' has emerged with greater branding power and a stronger product-line. The latest addition is the Email Group List, a group email feature for special interest online communities that makes its China debut through SOHU.com.
SOHU.com's leading position is supported by Internet measurement surveys NetValue, Alexa.com and IamAsia, all of which demonstrate that SOHU.com has attained top ranking among Chinese Internet properties in terms of effective reach and page views.

The latest addition to SOHU.com's comprehensive product-line is the Email Group List, a sophisticated community tool that allows special interest groups to communicate through email. Since its December 1 launch, 10,000 lists have formed with over 1 million emails sent among these groups.

SOHU.com is the first web portal in China to launch the Email Group List (list.sohu.com), a convenient and free service that allows users to connect to others who share the same interests and ideas. Members of an Email Group can send email messages to a group of people using only one email address, which is ideal for family, friends, hobbies, any community based organization and office use. Email Group List is also a convenient tool for quick polling and scheduling of large-scale meetings with automatic email reminders.

SOHU.com, the leading Internet portal in China, has significantly strengthened its community features by complementing its products and technology with those of ChinaRen.com, the top-ranking youth web site in China that made a breakthrough in Internet use with its flagship Alumni Club. Since the announcement of the acquisition page views growth and increase in user base have accelerated for the combined company. In mid-September the two companies announced combined daily page views of 44 million and 7.8 million registered users. As of December 14, these figures had increased to 90 million page views and 11.2 million registered users. In the spate of three months page views have doubled and the number of registered users has increased by 44%.
