BEIJING, CHINA, September 8, 2003 - SOHU.com (NASDAQ: SOHU),
China's leading online media, communications, commerce and mobile value-added
services company, today announced the appointments of Mary Ma of Legend Group
and Dr. Ya-Qin Zhang of Microsoft Research Asia to its Board of Directors. The
appointments are effective immediately.
Mary Ma Xuezheng is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the
Legend Group, the PC market leader in China and one of the 10 largest computer
manufacturers worldwide. Ms. Ma is responsible for strategic investment,
financial and treasury management, corporate marketing, listing affairs,
overseas business development and motherboard business of the Group. She has
over 26 years of experience in financial and executive management, having
graduated from Capital Normal University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Ms. Ma will join the Audit Committee of the SOHU Board of Directors.
Dr. Ya-Qin Zhang is Managing Director of Microsoft Research Asia, Microsoft’s
basic research arm in the Asia-Pacific region with over 200 world-class
researchers and scientists. Before joining Microsoft in 1999, Mr. Zhang was the
Director of Multimedia Technology Laboratory at Sarnoff Corporation in
Princeton, NJ, and worked at Verizon Corporation (former GTE). Dr. Zhang has
been engaged in research and commercialization of MPEG2/DTV, MPEG4/VLBR, and
multimedia information technologies. He received his Ph.D in Electrical
Engineering from George Washington University, Washington D.C. in 1989, and is a
Fellow of IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
